Through Employ Haiti, just $8 provides one Haitian worker with tools, structure, food and wages for an entire day of work. In a country where the minimum wage is 60 cents an hour, this will also allow workers to provide for their families. Meanwhile, every 10,000 newly employed Haitians will infuse more than $50,000 per day directly into the local economy, making a significant long-term difference in Haiti.

Thousands of Haitians have already signed up with Employ Haiti’s jobs program, eager to get to work, clean the rubble at school sites, and participate in other rebuilding projects across Haiti. Not only are these workers crucial to the clean-up efforts, but they will be the heart of a lasting recovery.

Employ Haiti was created to provide jobs, training and safe schools to the Haitian people in the wake of a devastating earthquake. In a nation where unemployment has routinely exceeded 70%, just one paying job can bring hope to an entire family.
