Employ Haiti is designed to provide work, wages and hope to the people of Haiti through multiple projects that create jobs and begin to build a foundation for sustainable economic development. Now underway, the first phase is focused on clearing the rubble at school sites, providing meaningful jobs and training to Haitian workers. Employ Haiti is also working to partner with local workers and construction companies to build and restore safe schools for Haiti’s children.

An initiative launched by the Morrell Foundation, Employ Haiti stands on the shoulders of successful programs in war-torn Iraq and coastal Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. Employ Iraq put more than 10,000 Iraqi citizens to work improving their own neighborhoods and rebuilding more than a dozen schools. In Katrina-ravaged Mississippi, the iCare Village provided shelter to local first-response teams and thousands of volunteers.

Innovative and compassionate, the people behind Employ Haiti have made a difference in the lives of people all around the world, and we are excited about bringing jobs and safe schools to the people of Haiti.

After all, survival is just the beginning. For Haiti to flourish in the future, the people need long-term employment and work skills as well as a system of safe, reliable school buildings. Working with Haitian partners and other concerned people worldwide, Employ Haiti is focusing on job creation, education, and infrastructure rebuilding—three essential building blocks of Haiti’s future.
