About

Employ Haiti teams with Local Partners

Teaming up with local partners and supporters from around the world, Employ Haiti has begun an initiative to create jobs and address critical rebuilding opportunities while building a solid foundation for economic growth.

Working together, our shared goals are to
1) provide work for the unemployed,
2) improve Haiti’s economy, and
3) help develop the next generation of Haitian leaders.

Employ Haiti provides training and jobs through community partnership programs aimed at building self-reliance, fostering sustainable development, and improving the lives of Haiti’s people.

One project of the program—already underway—is to employ Haitian workers to clear the rubble. The second phase of the program is to partner with Haitian construction companies to rebuild destroyed or damaged schools all across Haiti, building local construction capacity and investing in Haitian business leadership.

The schools Employ Haiti will be constructing cost $30,000 to $85,000, depending on the size. In coordination with Haitian architects, Employ Haiti is ensuring that the school buildings are designed to withstand hurricane-force winds and engineered to international seismic standards. Employ Haiti’s model is to build safe, modular buildings from start to finish in an effective and efficient manner.

Employ Haiti builds on an established track record of helping people in other challenging environments including Iraq and post-Katrina Mississippi.
